About Garyhaus

The Garyhaus Players are a small Brighton based theatre company, committed to staging interesting and novel plays.

Formed in 2011, the Garyhaus Players quickly made a bold decision: to work almost exclusively with puppet actors. The prejudice faced by puppet actors, on a daily basis, is an unspoken problem in this country, and particularly rife in Brighton. For puppet actors today, in this economy, it is almost impossible to find work in conventional theatre companies. In recent years they've been forced to perform in cheap outdoor venues, often in quite windy conditions, for an audience of children. Those who manage to escape the Punch and Judy scene almost always end up in the burgeoning puppet erotica business. The Garyhaus Players provide an entirely new option. We understand that performing in front of children is just horrible, but that many puppets aren't suited to Pupperotica. Our shows contain just enough swearing to justify an 18+ stipulation, but with very limited nudity, inserted only for comedic, dramatic or artistic effect. The result is a truly unique production, and one less puppet on the streets.
